Norway's global news magazine
Ny Tid ("New Time") is Norway's first and only weekly news magazine. This is our our international website, boasting contributions from various columnists spanning four continents.
Ny Tid ("New Time") is an award-winning, independent news magazine based in Oslo, Norway. Following a Newsweek template, Ny Tid publishes 64 pages in Norwegian every Friday. Topics range from politics and culture to global affairs.
The independent paper was founded in 1953 as "Orientering", and placed a strong emphasis on foreign affairs and global perspectives. In 1975 Orientering evolved into Ny Tid, with the Sosialistisk Venstreparti (SV; Norway's Socialist Left wing party) as its major stockholder up until 1998.
In January 2006 the paper was bought by the publishing house Egmont-Damm, and relaunched as Norway's first news magazine. Ny Tid is reknown for its breaking news story, as well as the esoteric viewpoints it gives voice to (with its contributions from distinguished columnists the world over.)
The Russian journalist, Anna Politkovskaya , was writing exclusively for Ny Tid from February 2006 until her death in October 2006.
Other international columnists include eminent figures such as:
Irshad Manji (Canada), Natalia Novozhilova (Russia), Mays Ibrahim (Iraq), Parvin Ardalan (Iran), Tsering Woeser (Tibet), Nawal E-Saadwai (Egypt) and Marta Beatriz Roque (Cuba).
